Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) (eye-dox-YOOR-i-deen) belongs to the family of medicines called antivirals. Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) is used to treat virus infections of the eye.
Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage forms: Ophthalmic Ophthalmic ointment (U.S. and Canada) Ophthalmic solution (eye drops) (U.S. and Canada) If your symptoms do not improve within a week, or if they become worse, check with your doctor. Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) may cause your eyes to become more sensitive to light than they are normally. Wearing sunglasses and avoiding too much exposure to bright light may help lessen the discomfort. Storage—To store Herplex-D (Idoxuridine): Keep Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) out of the reach of children. Store Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) in the refrigerator or in a cool place because heat will cause Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) medicine to break down. However, keep Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) from freezing. Follow the directions on the label. Do not keep outdated Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) or other medicine no longer needed. Be sure that any discarded Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) is out of the reach of children. The dose of Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label . The following information includes only the average doses of idoxuridine. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so. For virus infections of the eye: For eye ointment dosage form: Adults and children—Use Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) every four hours during the day (five times a day). For eye solution (eye drops) dosage form: Adults and children—Use Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) every hour during the day and every two hours during the night. After the eye condition gets better, use Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) every two hours during the day and every four hours during the night. Herplex-D - Herplex-D Side Effects - Herplex-D Information Supplied: Each mL of sterile, topical solution contains: idoxuridine 0.1%. Nonmedicinal ingredients: benzalkonium chloride (as preservative), edetate disodium, polyvinyl alcohol (Liquifilm) and sodium chloride. Plastic dropper bottles of 10 mL. Store Herplex-D (Idoxuridine) at room temperature. Protect from light. |
