Antivert (meclizine) an antihistamine, is prescribed for the management of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness.
Antivert (meclizine) may also be prescribed for the management of vertigo (a spinning sensation or a feeling that the ground is tilted) due to diseases affecting the vestibular system (the bony labyrinth of the ear, which contains the sensors that control your balance). Antivert (meclizine) may cause you to become drowsy or less alert; therefore, driving a car or operating dangerous machinery is not recommended. Store Antivert (meclizine) away from heat, light, and moisture. Antivert (meclizine) side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Antivert (meclizine). More common Antivert (meclizine) side effects may include: Drowsiness, dry mouth Rare side effects may include: Blurred vision If you have asthma, glaucoma, or an enlarged prostate gland, check with your doctor before using Antivert (meclizine). Antivert (meclizine) may intensify the effects of alcohol. Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication. Studies regarding the use of Antivert (meclizine) in pregnant women do not indicate that this drug increases the risk of abnormalities. However, if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor before using Antivert (meclizine). Check with your doctor if you are breastfeeding your baby. Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of Antivert (meclizine), seek emergency medical treatment immediately. |
