HypoTears is an OTC artificial tears product, indicated for temporary relief of burning and irritation due to dryness of the eye or to exposure to wind or sun. HypoTears also help protect against further eye irritation. There are two formulations: HypoTears and HypoTears PF. Both contain the same two active ingredients: polyvinyl alcohol and polyethylene glycol 400. HypoTears PF is a preservative-free formula that is packaged in single-use dropper containers.
Both formulas come in the same strength: 1% polyvinyl alcohol and 1% polyethylene glycol 400. Administer 1 to 2 drops of HypoTears in the affected eye(s) as needed. Patients who are using HypoTears PF should discard the single-use container after use. Patients who wear contact lenses should be advised to remove them before administering HypoTears in their eyes. After 15 minutes, the lenses can be reinserted. |
