Sominex comes in two formulas:
*Original *Maximum Strength All formulas contain the doctor-preferred sleep ingredient, diphenhydramine and are safe and effective in helping you fall asleep. Take two tablets of Sominex Original (25mg. of diphenhydramine HCL per tablet) or one caplet (50mg. of diphenhydramine HCL per caplet) of Sominex Maximum Strength one half hour before you want to fall asleep. Sominex contains the active ingredient diphenhydramine HCL, which will induce drowsiness and will help you fall asleep. Sominex products do not contain aspirin, caffeine or ibuprofen. Sominex is not habit forming as long as you take it as directed and it is helping you to fall asleep. However, if you feel you need to take it for an extended period of time, you might have another sleep condition that needs the attention of a doctor. Sominex will only help you to fall asleep. Once you've fallen asleep you will continue with your normal sleep pattern and there should be no effect of the drug upon awakening the next morning. In a study, patients who used diphenhydramine HCL, the medicine in Sominex, to help fall asleep, reported feeling more rested and refreshed than those who took nothing. |
