Denavir cream (Penciclovir) is a topical antiviral medication used for recurrent cold sores (herpes labialis) on the lips and face in otherwise healthy adult patients.
Denavir is a topical cream that is applied externally on the lips and face. It is not indicated for internal use on mucous membranes inside the mouth, nose, genital or rectal areas. Denavir Cream is a prescription product cannot be obtained without a prescription (over the counter). Denavir is available by prescription only. Directions to use Denavir: 1.You need to apply Denavir (Penciclovir Cream) every two hours during waking hours for four days to your cold sore with your finger or a cotton swab. 2.Wash hands with soap and water to prevent it from coming into contact with your eyes or other areas to prevent irritation and to prevent spread of the herpes virus. Denavir Cream has been shown to heal cold sores on average in four and a half days. Denavir Cream has also shown to reduce the lesion pain by about one-half-day when compared to placebo. However, always consult with your physician, pharmacist or dentist for information on your particular situation. 1. Denavir (penciclovir cream) was the only medicine of its kind proven to help cold sores disappear. 2. Helps cold sores heal on average in 4 1/2 days. Some dry flakey skin may remain. 3. Is a smooth, white, non-greasy cream that dries clear. 4. Has no medicine taste or odor. 5. Can be used from the very first sign or symptom of a cold sore. Cautions: DO NOT USE Denavir (penciclovir cream) if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in Denavir (penciclovir cream). Avoid getting Denavir (penciclovir cream) in your eyes. If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor. FOR WOMEN: IT IS UNKNOWN IF Denavir (penciclovir cream) IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking Denavir (penciclovir cream). Possible Denavir Side Effects: Denavir side effects, that may go away during treatment: include burning or itching. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Denavir (penciclovir cream) Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Denavir (penciclovir cream) may be harmful if swallowed. Additional Information: DO NOT SHARE Denavir (penciclovir cream) with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE Denavir (penciclovir cream) for other health conditions. KEEP Denavir (penciclovir cream) out of the reach of children. IF USING Denavir (penciclovir cream) FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out. |
