Ferrlecit (Sodium ferric gluconate complex) is indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in adult patients and in pediatric patients age 6 and older undergoing chronic hemodialysis who are receiving supplemental epoetin therapy.
Ferrlecit (Sodium ferric gluconate complex) is supplied in colorless glass ampules. Each ampule contains 62.5 mg of elemental iron in 5 mL for intravenous use, packaged in cartons of 10 ampules. Ferrlecit (Sodium ferric gluconate complex) is contraindicated in non iron-deficient anemias, in patients hypersensitive to Ferrlecit (Sodium ferric gluconate complex) or its inactive components, or with evidence of iron overload • Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported with injectable iron products • Hypotension has been reported with rapid administration of IV iron |
